Briquetting is the first in a row of technological processes of raw material lumping which was widely employed since second half of 19-th century. In 20-th century briquetting was almost entirely substituted with sintering or pelletizing mainly for the reason of low output of pressing equipment at that time.

However, briquets possess significant advantages over sinter:

  • they are uniform in shape, size and weight;
  • they have low fines content;
  • they feature high mechanical strength;
  • they can be easily handled;
  • briquet can be admixed with various additives, including combustible, readily fusible and high dispersion  ones.
“EcoMet Plus” presently produces the following types of briquets:

Briquets of any type can be of different geometry with sides length between 80 to 120 mm. Cement binding provides for high compression strength of briquets and sufficient strength after reaction in blast furnace. Our briquets are resistant to atmospheric precipitations and can be stored for a long time in open areas. Mass concentration of 5 mm size shall not exceed 5 %.

Our enterprise extensively practices correction of briquets chemical composition thus making them customer-tailored, and never ceases to develop new briquet types.

“EcoMet Plus” can cooperate following tolling system of briquet components recycling using wastes of steel making factories for their own needs.

METALIFEROUS WASTES OF STEEL MAKING (MW)

Steelmakers are mostly interested in MW-1 and MW-2 as far as iron content and chemical composition are concerned.

Application of MW-1 with fraction size less 10 mm and iron content not less than 50% in sintering mix leads to improvement of lumping and gas permeability of mix layer, brings down consumption of iron-ore concentrate, limestone and solid fuel.

MW-2 sized between 10 to 60 mm and having total iron content not less than 75%, and that of metal iron – up to 50 %, - is used as metal additive in blast furnace production.

Application of MW-2 in blast furnace production leads to reduction of rated consumption  of coke, limestone, iron-ores, and helps to upgrade blast furnace performance.
